3T is recalling all VENTUS aerobars for a safety fix.
The recall involves replacing the rubber grips on the handholds with a new design of grips. The new grips are securely attached to the handholds with an adhesive.
3T is truly sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you. Please take a moment to read our chief executive’s apology to our customers.
Who’s affected: All VENTUS owners should stop using their bars and fit the replacement grip kit. You pay nothing for this kit.
What to do now: Complete the form below. 3T will send a replacement grip kit for you to fit. If you do not wish to fit it yourself, choose to have it fitted by a 3T dealer. You pay nothing for this service.
Why it’s needed: The rubber grips on the outer handholds can loosen or slip off during use in humid, wet or salty conditions, posing a fall or injury hazard to the rider. This happened in 2 cases in the US, and the riders involved suffered minor abrasions.
3T believes that the safety of our customers is paramount. To prevent any further accidents, we designed improved grips and and put this recall program in place. Every VENTUS customer can and should get this safety fix, which is free.
In the US, this recall program is being managed under the auspices of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). You can read the CPSC/3T voluntary recall notice here.
How it works: Every replacement grip kit comes with detailed fitting instructions. Fitting the new grips involves removing and re-fitting the brake levers. The new grips must be fixed in place with adhesive.
Please review the fitting instructions before starting work.
STOP USING YOUR VENTUS BARS IMMEDIATELY UNTIL THE REPAIR IS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED.
