World-class engineering in the service of cycle sport | |
When the new 3T arose from the ashes of the old company in 2007, we knew there was no future in a ‘me-too’ company.
The way forward was to start each product design with a clean sheet. Our base should be a Zen clarity; a laser-like focus on best engineering practise; and lateral thinking that tests every possibility.
To head our design team, we recruited Richard McAinsh from Ferrari’s F1 team. Richard brings a new standard of professionalism to cycle engineering. Coming from outside cycling, he has a fresh perspective on component design and is not afraid to challenge accepted ideas.
Richard thrives on the demands of world-class sport and, under his guidance, 3T has deployed an advanced design platform utilizing the same software packages used by airframe and race-car designers.
We’re backing Richard’s team with the resources to get the job done, here in Europe where we design and test our products, in Taiwan and China where we make them, and in America and everywhere else in the world where our customers tell us how we can do even better.
3T’s founder Mario Dedioniggi was a pioneer in new, lightweight materials. We’re carrying that tradition forward with today’s materials, carbon composites. Formula 1 race-car design has shown the way forward, and at 3T we know about that. Find out more about the myths and reality of this remarkable material.
Aerodynamics have been a critical success factor for racing cyclists for two decades. We’re at the stage now where the gains we’re making are smaller and smaller, and more and more costly. But we continue to push the envelope. Our quest for the best took us to California.
Safety is always at the heart of our product design. Riders always want lighter and faster, but this can never be at the expense of durability. 3T has one of the industry’s most grueling product test regimes. See how we test our components to destruction – so you don't have to.
