Triathlon is big, and it’s getting bigger everywhere.
Europe, Singapore, Australasia, Brazil. North America, of course. And Hawaii, spiritual home of triathlon.
At the 2009 Ford Ironman World Championship, 3T came to Kailua-Kona to pay court to the queen of multisports. We came away convinced 3T must be part of it. That’s why we partnered with teamTBB, one of the world’s only 3 full-time pro triathlon squads.
It’s over 30 years since the first modern triathlon in Hawaii. Then, its demands looked superhuman. Legend has it the event was conceived to answer who were the fittest athletes of all – swimmers, cyclists, or runners? Just to finish the course would give you lifetime bragging rights.
That first legendary Ironman inspired a growing band to take part in triathlon: amateurs, mostly, eager to set their own personal record. The most striking feature of this mass participation? One in 2 triathletes shares a sport with their partner!
True, few can devote the time and resources to compete in the classic long-course Ironman, or even the Nice (ITU Olympic) distance. The fastest-growing event is the Sprint distance (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run).
For most, couples and singles alike, Sprint is a better lifestyle match. But just as in long-course triathlon, its participants are pushing the boundaries of sports science: winning demands the best in diet, training, and equipment.
Equipment: this is where 3T plays its part. For nearly half a century, we have led the way in bike fit. Where speed was of the essence, bike riders came to 3T to set them up to go that bit faster. We introduced the bullhorn bar, the precursor to all of today’s aerobars; Bio Arms, the first fully-achieved forward extension bars; and the incredible, Olympic Gold-winning VENTUS, the most radical aerobar ever made.
Today, 3T has a portfolio of the newest and most highly-evolved aerobars available, all clean-sheet designs, none more than 2 years old. Every pattern is studied for ideal aerodynamic performance and optimum rider fit.
From our entry model, AURA, a startling price breakthrough, to our pro-level BREZZA, you will find here what you need to fit you best. And with the latest thinking on triathlon bike fit focused on ‘front end first’, we say: look at the 3T Catalogue first. |
