Project Rio 2016 is the successor to Project London 2012 – a new breed of cycling team, dedicated to sending American track sprinters to compete in the Olympics.

Project London was an amateur team, formed at end 2010, comprising Dean Tracy, Jimmy Watkins, Kevin Mansker, Michael Blatchford, and Daniel Walker. Squad members held a variety of day jobs – fireman, college student, bicycle mechanic, night security guard, and Disneyland host.

Coached by former world and Olympic champion Jamie Staff, it competed with great success in events across the US as a trade team. It sent Kevin Mansker to the London Olympic Games to represent the United States of America, where he performed outstandingly well to come 6th in the sprint. Project Rio rides Felt TK1 bikes fitted with 3T Scatto sprint bars.

Also in the Olympian arena, 3T supports Colin Lynch, a member of the Irish Paralympic squad and current UCI time trial and individual pursuit world champion (C2 Class). An all-round cyclist, he also competes in road and TT events. Disappointed to miss out on a medal in London (4th place in the individual pursuit, 5th in the time trial), Colin has re-dedicated himself to success in Rio in 2016. Colin rides 3T bars and stems on his road, track and time trial bikes.
